Cabbage rolls aren’t for everyone… but if you enjoy them, it’s likely that you LOVE them. Here’s our quick and simple recipe.
Ingredients
1 x Pkg Hayter’s Ground Turkey
1/3 Cup x Uncooked White Rice
8 x Cabbage Leaves
1/4 Cup x Chopped Onion
1 x Large Egg, Slightly Beaten
1 x Can Condensed Tomato Soup
1 x Tsp Salt
1 x Tsp Black Pepper
Method of Preparation
- Cook your rice according to the package instructions.
- While your rice is cooking, bring a large pot of water to a boil. Once boiling, add cabbage leaves and cook for 2-4 minutes, until softened.
- Combine cooked rice, turkey, onion, 2 tbsp of the tomato soup and salt and pepper into a bowl and mix thoroughly.
- Spoon about 2 tbsp of the turkey mixture into each cabbage leaf and roll them. I like to tuck both sides in and over the meat mixture and then roll out.
- Put your cabbage rolls in a skillet that has a lid, and pour/spoon the rest of the tomato soup onto them. Cook on medium heat and bring to a boil.
- Once boiling, lower the heat to a simmer and begin to baste the rolls with the liquid often. After 30 mins, check the internal temp of the rolls to see if they’ve reached 165F. You may need to give them an extra 10 mins or so.
- Serve with your fav sides and enjoy!Note: If you want to make these ahead and freeze them – you can complete up to step 4, then freeze them on a baking sheet to freeze. Once frozen, move to a zip-lock or freezer safe container. When ready to cook, and cook later.
